Idea — Skimming means reading quickly to get the general idea — headings, topic sentences, and the first and last paragraphs. Every word is not processed.
Example — Reading a product review by jumping to the opening and final sentence of each paragraph to decide ‘positive or negative’ — that is skimming.
Try — Skim an article by reading only headings and topic sentences. Write a one-sentence summary. Time yourself. Compare with a full read later.
