Idea — Monologue tasks build extended turn-taking: describing, narrating, presenting. Dialogue tasks build interaction: initiating, responding, clarifying, negotiating. Both are real speaking sub-skills.
Example — Monologue: present your hometown to a new colleague (two minutes). Dialogue: negotiate where the team holds its next meeting.
Try — Count how many of your last five speaking tasks were monologues vs dialogues. Is there a balance? Which do learners need more practice with?
