Idea — Productive skills — speaking and writing — require learners to create language output. They are harder than receptive skills because errors are visible and meaning must be organised actively.

Example — Reading a recipe is receptive. Writing your own recipe, or explaining it to a partner, is productive. Same topic, very different cognitive demand.

Try — Think of one lesson topic. Write one receptive task and one productive task for it. Notice the difference in difficulty.
