ELT365 · Day 183 — Accuracy vs fluency — knowing which to target
Idea — Accuracy focuses on correct forms; fluency focuses on communicating meaning without stopping. Both matter. The error is mixing correction into fluency tasks — it kills flow.
Example — Fluency task: tell your partner about your weekend — teacher listens but does not interrupt. Accuracy task: a structured drill or gap-fill.
Try — Label each speaking activity in your next lesson as accuracy or fluency. Make sure your correction style matches the task type.
