ELT365 · Day 165 — Extensive listening outside the classroom

Idea — Extensive listening is longer input outside class, chosen for interest rather than for a test. The aim is exposure and confidence, not full comprehension of every line.

Example — Learners listen to a short podcast episode on a topic they already know. They report only what they understood and what they want to hear again.

Try — Assign a 3–5 minute audio. Ask learners to note one thing they caught and one thing they missed. No transcript until after the first listen.
