ELT365 · Day 164 — Intensive reading: close attention on short text
Idea — Intensive reading is slow, close attention on a short text. Every word and structure is available for analysis; the goal is depth, not coverage.
Example — A 60-word paragraph is read twice. Learners mark unknown words, then discuss how one sentence connects to the next.
Try — Choose a short authentic paragraph. Ask learners to underline the words that carry the main meaning. Compare which words they chose.
