Professional English · Lesson 02 — Meeting Language — Take the Floor and Hold It

July 15, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Meetings require specific phrases for joining in, agreeing, and moving things forward. Without them, you stay silent when you have ideas.

Examples

  • ‘If I could just add something…’ (entering)
  • ‘I take your point, but…’ (polite disagreement)
  • ‘Can we move on to…?’ (redirecting)

Practice

Say each phrase aloud twice right now. In your next meeting, use at least one. Note: which situation needed it?

Takeaway: One phrase per meeting is enough to change how people see you.
