ELT365 · Day 202 — Writing a Paragraph

July 17, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — A well-formed paragraph has a topic sentence, supporting evidence or detail, and a closing sentence. This structure transfers across genres.

Example — Topic: ‘Commuting by bike saves money.’ Evidence: ‘A monthly bus pass costs €60; a bike lasts ten years.’ Close: ‘The arithmetic is simple.’

Try — Give learners a topic sentence. Ask them to write two supporting sentences and one closing sentence. Swap and check structure, not content.
