Idea — Cohesion is how a text holds together — through pronouns, synonyms, discourse markers, and reference chains. Without it, sentences are isolated facts.
Example — ‘She arrived late. The teacher was already speaking. This made her nervous.’ Three pronouns link four ideas into one story.
Try — Take a paragraph from learner writing. Highlight every cohesion device. If there are fewer than three, ask them to add more.
