Idea — Every text type has conventions — emails open differently from essays, reports from stories. Teaching the genre before teaching the content cuts confusion.
Example — Before teaching formal letters, show an annotated model: greeting, opening purpose, formal register, closing. Then learners write.
Try — Choose one text type you will teach. List five features that make it recognisably that genre. These become your lesson’s analysis stage.
