Idea — Schema theory holds that understanding depends on prior knowledge structures. A reader with relevant schemata comprehends faster and more accurately.

Example — A text about cricket is harder for a reader with no cricket schema, even if the vocabulary is simple. Knowledge drives reading, not just language.

Try — Choose a culturally specific text. Activate the schema first with a two-minute discussion. Compare comprehension with a version given cold.
