ELT365 · Day 169 — Reading Extensively

June 26, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — Extensive reading means reading large quantities at or below learner level, for pleasure and fluency — not for close language study.

Example — A B1 learner reads a graded reader for the story, not to study the language. Volume and enjoyment are the goals.

Try — Ask learners to read one page of anything in English outside class this week. Report back: what did they notice, enjoy, or struggle with?
