ELT365 · Day 210 — Creative Writing in ELT

June 28, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — Creative writing builds vocabulary range, sentence variety, and risk-taking. Low-stakes tasks — poems, micro-fiction, dialogue — produce language learners own.

Example — A six-word story forces lexical precision. A poem starter (‘I remember…’) unlocks personal language that coursebook tasks rarely reach.

Try — Give learners: ‘Write a story in exactly six words.’ Allow five minutes. Share. Discuss the vocabulary choices made.
