ELT365 · Day 211 — Speaking in Task-Based Learning

📚60-Day ELT Masterclass — This post is part of an ongoing series. View full index →

Idea — In task-based learning, speaking emerges from the task, not from a pre-taught structure. Learners use whatever language they can to achieve a real goal.

Example — ‘Plan a community event with a budget of £200.’ Nobody teaches the language first — the post-task focus teaches what they needed.

Try — Set a TBL speaking task next lesson. Monitor for language that emerged naturally. Use that language in the post-task focus stage.
