Idea — Cohesion is the grammatical and lexical links between sentences — pronouns, connectors, reference chains. Coherence is the logical progression of ideas. Both matter.

Example — ‘She arrived late. Therefore, the meeting started without her.’ Cohesion (Therefore) plus coherence (causal logic) — both are present.

Try — Find a learner text with poor cohesion. Add only connectors and pronouns. Does it now read as coherent? If not, what else is missing?
