ELT365 · Day 196 — Delayed vs On-the-Spot Correction in Speaking

📚60-Day ELT Masterclass — This post is part of an ongoing series. View full index →

Idea — On-the-spot correction interrupts fluency — use it sparingly for accuracy tasks. Delayed correction preserves communication in fluency tasks.

Example — In a gap-fill drill, correct immediately. In a discussion, take notes and correct after the task ends.

Try — Decide for your next three activities: correct immediately or delay? Write the reason for each choice in your lesson plan.
