ELT365 · Day 184 — Controlled Practice

📚60-Day ELT Masterclass — This post is part of an ongoing series. View full index →

Idea — Controlled practice limits learner choices — a gap-fill or substitution drill. Learners apply one form correctly before attempting free use.

Example — ‘Fill in: I ___ (go) to school every day’ targets simple present with zero ambiguity about what is being practised.

Try — Write one controlled practice task for a grammar point you teach. Make it so focused that wrong answers are impossible if learners know the form.
