Idea — Authentic texts are written for native speakers: idiomatic, complex, dense. Graded texts trade authenticity for accessibility. Use both; do not let graded readers become the only diet.

Example — A graded reader at B1 simplifies Dickens. The original is authentic but likely inaccessible. The graded version builds reading habits and confidence.

Try — Find one authentic text at your learners’ level — a menu, a sign, a social media post. What makes it accessible?
