ELT365 · Day 176 — The jigsaw reading task

June 29, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — In a jigsaw task, different learners read different texts then share information. Everyone has something the others need. It creates a genuine communication purpose for speaking after reading.

Example — Group A reads about climate causes. Group B reads effects. Group C reads solutions. Then they share to complete a joint task.

Try — Take a long text you use. Split it into three sections. Assign one section per group. Can they reconstruct the whole from each other?
