Idea — Listening for specific information means focusing on targeted details — names, numbers, times — while letting irrelevant content pass. Learners hold a question in mind before the text plays.

Example — At an airport, a traveller tunes out announcements until their flight number appears. That selective attention is the skill in action.

Try — Set three target questions before playing a clip. Stress that learners will not catch everything — and do not need to.
