ELT365 · Day 167 — Post-Reading: Moving from Text to Talk

📚60-Day ELT Masterclass — This post is part of an ongoing series. View full index →

Idea — A post-reading stage extends the text into production. Learners respond, personalise, debate, or write from the content they have just read. Without this stage, reading ends at passive understanding.

Example — After reading an opinion piece about social media, learners write one sentence agreeing or disagreeing, then share and discuss. Two minutes. High engagement.

Try — Add one post-reading activity to your next lesson: a 2-minute discussion, a written sentence, or a mini-debate. The text becomes a springboard, not an endpoint.
