Idea — Extensive reading means reading large amounts of easy, enjoyable material at the learner’s independent level. Quantity builds fluency, vocabulary breadth, and reading speed. The text should feel almost too easy.
Example — A B1 learner reads a graded reader (Oxford Bookworms Stage 3) at home — 30 pages an evening. Over a term, that is exposure to tens of thousands of words in context.
Try — Ask learners to bring one book, article, or website they read in English for fun. Share titles. Discuss: how often, how long, and why that source?
