Idea — Prediction tasks ask learners to guess content before they read. This activates schema, gives reading a purpose, and creates a small tension — was I right? — that drives engagement.
Example — Show a headline: ‘City bans cars on Sundays.’ Ask: Who is affected? What problems might this solve? What objections might there be? Then read to compare.
Try — For your next reading lesson, write two prediction questions based only on the title and one image. Run them before learners open the text.
