ELT365 · Day 155 — Listening for detail

📚60-Day ELT Masterclass — This post is part of an ongoing series. View full index →

Idea — Detail tasks ask learners to extract specific information. Set them after the gist task; front-loading detail questions causes panic and learners miss everything.

Example — “Which city does the speaker prefer?” or “How much does the flight cost?” — one answer, locatable in the text.

Try — Write three detail questions at different difficulty levels for the same listening text.
