Idea

Each stage has its own micro-aim that serves the overall lesson aim. The lead-in does not practise the target language — it activates interest and prior knowledge.

Example

Stage aim for a lead-in: ‘To engage learners and activate schema about the topic.’ Not: ‘To practise vocabulary.’

Try

Write a stage aim for each stage in your next lesson. Check that each one uses a different verb from the others.
