ELT365 · Day 236 — Pairing and Grouping Learners
Idea
Who works with whom changes what learners produce. Teacher-assigned pairs are not arbitrary — they are a pedagogical decision.
Example
Pairing a stronger and a weaker learner on a fluency task scaffolds the weaker; pairing two similar-level learners on a negotiation task produces richer language.
Try
Plan three different grouping arrangements for three stages in your next lesson. State the reason for each.
