Idea — When you check answers as a class, choral repetition of the right answer tells you nothing — one confident student speaks, others follow. Use targeted nomination or paired comparison instead.

Example — Instead of ‘What’s the answer to 1?’ — which gets a chorus from three students — try: ‘Compare with your partner. Different answers? Tell me why.’ Then nominate one pair to share.

Try — In your next listening lesson, check answers using paired comparison first. Give two minutes, then ask pairs to report. Notice whether you hear more student reasoning.
