Idea — Intensive reading means careful, slow reading for precise understanding — examining vocabulary, grammar, and cohesion closely. It suits short texts and language-focused aims.

Example — Analysing the grammar of a business email before learners write one of their own: that is intensive reading feeding productive work.

Try — Choose a paragraph. Ask learners to underline every verb and identify the tense. Then ask: why did the writer use this form here?
