ELT365 · D161 — Authentic vs graded listening texts
Idea — Authentic texts are unmodified real recordings. Graded texts are scripted or adapted for a level. Both have legitimate uses in the ELT classroom.
Example — A genuine radio interview challenges advanced learners with authentic pace and overlap. A scripted A2 dialogue controls rate and vocabulary for beginner success.
Try — For your next lesson, decide: authentic or graded? Write one sentence justifying your choice. Then plan how you will support whichever you pick.
