ELT365 · Day 193 — Process writing — plan, draft, revise, edit

📚60-Day ELT Masterclass — This post is part of an ongoing series. View full index →

Idea — Four stages, four cognitive tasks. Planning builds ideas; drafting releases them; revision improves content and structure; editing fixes surface form. Never mix revision and editing.

Example — At the revision stage, learners ask “Is the message clear?” not “Is the spelling right?” — that question belongs to editing.

Try — Give learners a colour-coding task: mark each section of their draft with the stage it represents (plan / draft / revision / edit).
