ELT365 · Day 197 — Dictation — a neglected productive task
Idea — Dictation integrates listening, spelling, punctuation, and grammar in a single task. It is not a test — it is focused practice. Adjust speed and repetitions to control difficulty.
Example — Read a sentence at natural speed, pause, repeat. Learners write, compare with a partner, then see the original — three types of noticing in one pass.
Try — Use a dictation for the first five minutes of your next class, drawing on target language from the previous lesson.
