🍷 Sourov’s Story

My first mentor at Merivale said: “You should taste before you pour. You had better know your list. And you ought to remember every regular.” Three modal verbs, one shift. I learned all three that night.

πŸ“š How They Work

Modal Strength Use
should Neutral advice You should practise daily.
ought to Same, slightly formal You ought to revise before the test.
had better Urgent / warning You had better arrive on time.
βœ… Key Form

should / ought to / had better + base verb (no -s, no -ing, no to after had better)

  • βœ” You should go.
  • βœ– You should to go.
  • βœ” You had better leave now.
