I took the IELTS Specialist training with IDP in 2026. The examiner said something I remember: “The best Part 2 answers tell a real story — they don’t list bullet points.” I thought of my father: a man from a small village in Bengal who taught himself to read by lamplight. That’s the kind of detail that turns a B2 answer into a Band 8.

🎯 Language Focus

Task	Speak for 1–2 minutes on a topic. You have 1 minute to prepare.
Structure	Who? → How you know them → What they did → Why they inspired you
Vocabulary for people	inspiring, determined, resilient, compassionate, persistent, resourceful
Language to upgrade	not just “he was kind” → “What struck me most was his remarkable patience.”

1. Which is better? “She is nice.” or “What I found most impressive was her determination.”

The second ✓ — specific and advanced vocabulary.

2. Fill: “I’d like to talk about my ___, who I’ve always ___ enormously.”

e.g. “my grandmother, whom I’ve always admired enormously” ✓.

3. What’s a word to replace “very good at her job”?

Highly competent / exceptionally skilled / remarkably talented ✓.

4. Think of ONE person who inspired you. Note 3 specific details about them.

Your answer — prepare this as if speaking for 1 minute.
