🔀 Conditional Sentences: First & Second Conditional
If I had stayed in Sydney, I would never have built this life. Conditionals aren’t just grammar — they’re choices.
📖 Two Key Conditionals
First conditional — real / possible future:If + present simple, will + verb
If you practise every day, you will improve.
Second conditional — unreal / hypothetical:If + past simple, would + verb
If I lived in Paris, I would speak French every day.
💭 Real vs Hypothetical
→ Second: If I hadn’t moved to Réunion, I wouldn’t have started teaching. (hypothetical)
‘If it ___ tomorrow, we will cancel.’ (First conditional)
‘If I ___ more money, I would travel the world.’ (Second conditional)
Which conditional is for real, likely situations?
