English Tip · 03 — Phrasal Verbs for Daily Life
Phrasal verbs combine a verb and a particle to create a new meaning. English uses them constantly — more in speech than formal writing.
Examples
- Wake up (not arise)
- Give up (not abandon)
- Find out (not discover)
- Put off (not postpone)
Practice
Choose five phrasal verbs from a conversation or podcast this week. Write the meaning, then write one sentence of your own for each.
Takeaway: Learn phrasal verbs in chunks, not in isolation.
