English Tip · 09 — Building Vocabulary — Three Strategies That Work
Three approaches consistently build vocabulary faster than lists alone: learning in context, using spaced repetition, and noticing words in natural language.
Examples
- Don’t learn ‘ambiguous’ from a list. Read it used in a sentence.
- Write one personal example. See it again in three days. Use it once in conversation.
Practice
Choose five words you want to learn. Write one personal sentence for each. Set a reminder to review them in three days. Use at least one this week.
Takeaway: You don’t own a word until you’ve used it unprompted.
