ELT365 · Day 207 — Dictation

July 18, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — Dictation is a listening-to-writing bridge: learners hear language and transcribe it accurately. Done well, it integrates listening, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

Example — Read a short passage at natural speed, in meaningful chunks, with one pause per chunk — not word by word.

Try — Dictate four sentences from a text learners have already read. Compare their versions with the original. Discuss differences — not just spelling.
