ELT365 · Day 199 — Writing for a Real Audience

June 27, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — Writing for a genuine reader produces better work. When someone outside the classroom reads the text, learners attend to clarity and register more carefully.

Example — A letter to a local newspaper, a review posted online, a recipe shared with another class — all create a real communicative purpose.

Try — Plan one writing task this term where learners write for a reader who is not the teacher. What changes in their preparation?
