ELT365 · Day 185 — Freer Speaking Tasks
Idea — Freer tasks give learners a communicative goal with minimal language constraint. Success means achieving the goal, not producing a specific target form.
Example — ‘Plan a weekend trip with your partner. Budget: £50.’ The task is real; the language is the learner’s choice.
Try — Write a freer speaking task for your current class. State the goal, the constraint, and the time limit. What makes it communicative, not just conversation?
