ELT365 · Day 177 — Questions to Guide Listening

July 16, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — Pre-listening questions tell learners what to listen for. Without a task, learners try to process everything and miss most of it.

Example — ‘Who is speaking, and what is the relationship between the two people?’ is a manageable pre-listening focus.

Try — Write one question for each stage of a listening text — before, during, and after. Make the before-question answerable in ten seconds.
