Idea — Reading, like listening, combines bottom-up decoding with top-down prediction. Fluent readers do not process every letter; they sample the text and confirm guesses, which is why context matters so much.

Example — You can read "the cat sat on the m_t" without seeing the missing letters — prediction fills the gap.

Try — Give learners a headline only and ask what the article will contain. Reveal the text to check their predictions.
