Idea — Detailed listening means attending to specific information: a number, a name, a date, an exact instruction. Use it after gist work, not instead of it.

Example — After gist: ‘The lecture is about volcanoes.’ For detail: ‘What year did the eruption occur, and how many people were affected?’

Try — Take a recording you know well. Write three detail questions. Check: can each one be answered from the audio alone, not from background knowledge?
