ELT365 · Day 241 — Using Humour Well

July 11, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea

Shared laughter builds rapport and lowers the affective filter. The target is inclusive humour — based on ideas, not people. Never at a learner’s expense.

Example

A playful example sentence (‘My cat is applying for a mortgage’) engages learners in grammar practice without singling anyone out.

Try

Write three example sentences for a target language point that are factually absurd but grammatically perfect.
