Idea — Controlled writing — gap-fills, sentence transformation, guided paragraphs — practises form with heavy support and a low error risk. It is the writing equivalent of a drill and precedes freer work.
Example — Completing "Dear ___, I am writing to ___" rehearses email openings without learners inventing structure.
Try — Build one controlled writing frame for an upcoming genre: give the skeleton, let learners fill the gaps.
