Idea — A well-structured paragraph has a topic sentence (the main idea), supporting details (evidence, examples, explanation), and sometimes a concluding sentence. Teach this as a visible, replicable pattern.

Example — Topic sentence: ‘Réunion has a unique food culture.’ Support: ‘It blends Creole, Indian, Chinese, and French influences, visible in every street market.’

Try — Take a paragraph you use in class. Identify the topic sentence and supporting details. Is the structure clear enough for learners to spot it?
