Idea — Free writing gives learners maximum autonomy — topic, form, length, and language are all their choice. It is fluency practice transferred to paper.
Example — ‘Write anything you want to say. Ten minutes. I will not correct the language.’ Purpose: break the fear of the blank page.
Try — Use five minutes of free writing to open a lesson this week. Ask learners: what did you find difficult? What did you enjoy?
