ELT365 · Day 200 — Writing for Real Audiences: Authentic Tasks
Idea — Authentic writing tasks — real emails, review posts, complaint letters — motivate because the audience is real. The writing must work, not just be correct. This shifts the frame from accuracy to communication.
Example — Learners write a genuine review of a local café and post it. The public audience changes how they draft and proofread — far more than a teacher marking it ever does.
Try — Design one authentic writing task for your current class. Who is the real audience? Where will the text actually go? Make the purpose concrete.
