Idea — Before learners write, they analyse a model for genre features: structure, register, vocabulary choices, cohesion devices. Analysis makes the invisible features of good writing visible.

Example — Model: a product review. Learners find: overall opinion (para 1), positive features, negative features, recommendation. Now they write their own.

Try — Take a model text and strip its section headings. Ask learners to re-label the sections. What did they notice independently?
