Idea — Most learners skip planning and write whatever comes first. Teach planning as a skill: brainstorm, select, order. Even two minutes of planning produces more organised writing.

Example — ‘Write a paragraph about your city.’ First: list six things. Then: which three will you use? In what order? Only then: write.

Try — Try a timed planning task before your next writing activity. Two minutes, no writing — only planning. Note whether the output changes.
