ELT365 · Day 196 — Presentations in EFL: shorter is better

June 25, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — Long presentations overwhelm both speaker and audience. A two-to-three minute talk with one main point and one example is hard enough at B1 and generates better language than a ten-minute ramble.

Example — Task: ‘Prepare a two-minute talk about one thing you have changed your mind about. Include one reason and one example.’ Focused, manageable, and personally meaningful.

Try — Design a presentation task for B1+ learners. Cap it at two minutes. Require one main idea and one example. Give five minutes preparation. Does the constraint improve the output?
